District Meeting Minutes
January 18, 2009 District Meeting
TJ called the meeting to order at 1:00PM with the Pledge, Prayer by Lana, and the Rider?s Response.
Reading of Minutes of the last meeting were waived by TJ.
NO Treasury Report given as Jim was not in attendance.
There will be a meeting about Knightstowns on January 21.
There will be a Rally at the State House on January 26 at the State House.
Meet in the State House Atrium at 8am.
2009 State Rally will be June 26, 27 & 28 in Jonesboro Post 95. Jonesboro is West of Gas City on St Rt 35, Exit 59. Details given at the Midwinter Conference were camping area set and there are retail stores clos by. A letter from Steve Short about Resolution (#09M-13) to the NEC, for awards recognition through the Legion has moved through the committee and to the study group to look at and will be read at the Convention Meeting in July.
The State Officers had a special meeting with the State Commander about the issue they have with the ALR about the non-communication between us. TJ plans to send them all our plans on the State level for notice. The Committee heads are to send activities three months in advance. ALL STATE LEVEL ACTIVITIES NEED TO BE IN THEIR MINUTES.
Spring Fling Report - May 30, 2009, Poker Run to area Legions planning by Chapter 157, Kim checking about the Leather show, Deb doing the flyer, What do we want for food? Each post is to submit door prizes, If each chapter has funds to donated, please do so. We should include our rides on the 92.3 Bike Event
calendar. Get with Cliff after the meeting for volunteering to help.
Posts in District 4 need our support to stay open. We need to put runs together and ride to them. Jim says Legioner is not throwing in the towel!
2009 National Rally will be July 17, 18, 19 in Willard Ohio.
New Business:
Jeff Bickel Chapter 423 thanks those who stood Flag Line on the coldest day of the year. They had 12 riders!
He asked for us to all check on the Web site for Hog Hills plan for a new event on June 20 to raise Scholarship money for Trine University, which is their date for the annual charity run. They plan to tie into the event to help them.
Cathy announced the passing of a past member of 97, Bruce Custer this past week.
Chuck Sweet?s son will be home for a visit at the end of January. There will be a dinner at Kendallville.
Lots of parties announced. Check calendar and website for dates.
Chapter 47 will be planning Thursday night runs to other Chapter posts to visit and get to know other Chapter members.
Reminder of the Calendar for us to post all meetings and events for 2009 is at the front table to fill in your dates after the meeting. Also make sure Kim has your address and e-mail so that she can send a copy of the District minutes to you each month.
The State has let the Legion know they are willing to sit down with them to talk about Knightstown.
There will be a welcome home for the troops returning in Indy on January 31 at 10:30am.
50/50 drawn, proceeds given back to be split between the general fund and the hospitality room fund, $58.00 each.
Custer made a motion to adjourn, Chuck seconded it and was accepted by vote.
